I bought this vacuum, Hoover U5786900, after some research. I've had it for a few weeks now and it's everything I had hoped it would be. The suction is strong, the controls are easy, and it's quieter than I had thought it would be. Changing the dirt container is a breeze compared to dealing with bags. The only thing that gave me a little pause is that the back gets hot fairly quickly when running. You can feel the heat coming off it. For all I know all 20 amp wind tunnel vacuums give off similar heat. But it doesn't get so hot that you would burn yourself or anything, and I am thoroughly happy with this vacuum.

Pros:
- decent suction and cleaning power on carpet
- sense of satisfaction seeing the clean bagless chamber fill with dirt and debris
Cons:
- extremely heavy and awkward to maneuver
- very loud motor
- ridiculously short electrical cord
- bagless canister does not empty easily; have to pull out debris by hand - a messy task
- brush head does not stop spinning when attachment tools are in use - this will likely add wear and tear to the carpet
I was hoping for an efficient, effective, comfortable-to-use cleaning appliance. This Hoover model in no way lived up to these expectations.

The vacuum does a terrific job, on carpets and hardwood floors too. I would have given it 5 stars if the extension hose was a little longer and if the on/off switch wasn't sloppy. The switch is a little weird. I'm not concerned about it though.
I like the manner in which you empty the dirt cup. It's really easy and it's a lot less messy than the Kenmore I used to have.

I did some research before deciding which vacuum was the best for me. I have a dog that sheds alot so I needed a powerful vacuum with a good HEPA filter so that I wouldn't sneeze for days while I cleaned. I chose the Hoover U5786900 after reading the other customer reviews. It is a fantastic vacuum cleaner. Lightweight, easy to vacuum, very reasonable price and picks up everything.

We've had the Hoover Anniversary Windtunnel about a month and like it very much. I was a bit hesitant to buy it, despite the good reviews, because I had a Windtunnel around 10 years ago and didn't like that one because it was extremely heavy. This one, however, is light, easy to use, and works well. I'm very jaded about vacuums because I've gone through so many over the years, so I'm not looking for a lifetime purchase, but this one seems like it will last for a number of years with good results. I recommend it!
