The product works well. It didn't come with the bare floor protector as it claimed.

 "Better than I expected..." 2009-09-12
By Ms. A (Aurora, IL United States)
I purchased the Hoover F7412-900 SteamVac Dual V just two days ago. I'm quite satisfied with my purchase. I've used it specifically to clean the high-traffic areas of my frise carpet, and was stunned at how much dirt and grime this machine picked up!

The "V" design ensures that there is suction across the front of the machine, and not just in the middle. I had considered a different brand with a built in heater, but when I learned that the heater took away from the unit's suction power - I went for the Hoover. It apparently runs the water near the motor to help keep the water warm without sacrificing suction power. I used hot tap water and found it stayed quite warm without a built in heater. But let's face it - there's no steam involved, despite the name.

I thought that this machine was easy to assemble based on the quick instructions provided. The instruction booklet was well written and easy to understand. It was easy to fill and empty and replace the tanks. This machine was easy to operate in its regular and upholstery cleaning modes.

For heavily soiled areas, its best to work one small area at a time which allows you to work at a slower pace, and give the machine time to really work. I also found that you may need to do twice the number of washing and rinsing passes on areas that are soiled by foot traffic. I also spent extra time running the machine over and over the area I just cleaned to suck up as much water as possible. This allowed the carpet area to dry completely in less than two hours.

Someone mentioned small "fur balls" from their pet after using this product. It DOES happen, and WILL happen, even if you vacuum multiple times before cleaning. These range from the size of a dime to a penny, and are a little annoying, but hey - it shows that the machine really is working if it can get out embedded hair and fur. Despite the fur balls - I didn't have any issues with the machine losing suction.

I would also recommend that buyers of this product be aware that if they need to stop and empty the lower tank that they bring the machine to a surface that will tolerate a few drips and small puddles. I took mine to the kitchen to empty the tank and found that sometimes the machine will weep out the moisture that didn't make it to the lower tank -- small puddles may form -- so have a rag with you while you clean.

I am certainly happy with my purchase, and glad I read buyer's reviews before shelling out money on an inferior product!

"Almost perfect but not quite" 2009-08-19
By Berkley K. Carden
My husband bought me this b/c we were borrowing a friends alot. We have 2 children, 3 dogs, 1 cat and a flurry of children running in and out all day long. This is easy to use and works perfectly. Now for the non perfect part. Maybe it's just me but I cannot stand that the hose is not attached permanently. You have to stop attach it use it hold it up then take it off (water always comes out) then go to a sink and hold it up while pushing the nozzle and let it air dry. If the hose was always attached and you could use it as you went this product would be perfect!

 "We are very pleased!" 2009-08-07

For the price, I am very pleased with the quality of this steamvac. It is pretty easy to use, doesn't leak during use and gets the carpets very nice, clean and virtually dry. It is a little heavy to move around, and tends to leave stripes where the brushes rotate, but they come out as you walk on the carpet. Overall a very good buy!

 "love it" 2009-07-20
By Floie Ference (Frackville, Penna)
Had a Hoover rug shampooer before and after several years the motor went. I looked around to find the right one and after several months of looking I purchased another Hoover from Amazon. I am thrilled with this shampooer. I have a puppy and with that comes little presents on the floor. He has a favorite spot and the stains were beginning to get out of control. I was sure that I would need to replace the carpet but when I used the shampooer the stains were hardly noticable. I waited a few days later and repeated the process and this time all the stains came out. Needless to say I am a happy camper.
