"Great for rug cleaning, but not for dusting chores" 2009-09-07
By HarvF69 (USA)
The Hoover S3670 WindTunnel canister vacuum cleaner does a great job on rugs. However, dusting chores are difficult using the short crevice tool and the narrow V-shaped dusting brush because the large, heavy plastic handle attached to the hose keeps getting in the way. It next to impossible dusting in tight spaces. Even though I'm a guy, I have to use both hands for dusting the furniture and vacuuming the sofa, because the handle is heavy and clunky. It would be nice if the handle could be detached from the hose. I like having the ON/OFF switch for the motorized rug cleaning attachment on the handle, but hate having to step on the side panel with the universal ON/OFF symbol on one side of the vacuum cleaner in order to operate the machine. This misguided arrangement is very awkward especially if you're vacuuming stairs--- unless you have extra wide stairs, you'll have to use your fingers to turn the machine on and off on the stairway. There's another panel with a symbol of a plug on the other side of the machine to retract the cord. It's hard to distinguish one panel from another, because the symbols embossed on them are the same color as the panels themselves. They need to be highlighted in a contrasting color for easy recognition. Better still, why not put the ON/OFF button for the machine on the hose handle next to the one which operates the motorized rug brush attachment? Other suggestions for a better vacuum cleaner: the hose needs to be redesigned so that it stretches and doesn't keep tangling. The wand needs to be lengthened at least a foot more to facilitate ceiling cleaning. Also, make the crevice tool at least 12 inches long---the 6 inch one doesn't do the job. And, redesign the dusting brush from a skinny V-shaped one to a larger round one---what were the designers thinking?

 "bad company back-up" 2009-09-05
By DAS
I don't have much of an opinion about the vacuum cleaner, except the hose rips quickly and without having been abused; HOWEVER, I have been waiting for six weeks for a simple fix to this problem. Since my vacuum cleaner was still under warrantee, I took it to an authorized dealer to have the hose replaced. They cannot replace the part until it is shipped. Hoover is now owned by Dirt Devil. I was told by the repair shop manager that Dirt Devil is notorious for delays. Whether they do not want to honor the warrantee and are trying for me to give up by attrition or are merely inefficient, I do not know, but I am never buying a Hoover or Dirt Devil product again.

 "Horrrrrible (with 5 r's)" 2009-08-04
By Robert N. (Bay Area, California United States)
We've experienced the exact same thing as a lot of other posters - this is the worst vacuum that I've ever purchased. The handle broke twice from the cheap plastic and then something happened with the electricals. All of this within 6 months. My wife only weighs 100lbs and we live in a 1200sqft condo, she might use it every other week but that's all. Then they make you take the vacuum to a local service center, which is not even a Hoover facility btw, and they charge you $25 to open the thing up even though it's under warranty. Go ahead and call Hoover about this - it's true! They even said that using it every other week is too much use for this vacuum - maybe that was just an opener for an upsell opportunity, but these are supposedly Hoover authorized facilities. Depending on your local service center they might nickle and dime you, and for sure will try and upsell. If you don't have your original purchase receipt they will also try and tell you that it's out of warranty - BEWARE OF THIS - The serial number actually confirms the manufacturing date so be informed and don't let them give you the run-around. Anyways, our vacuum is still in service after over 3 weeks - they claim it's not a common replacement part. Either this is true or the vacuum breaks so often that they can't keep the part in stock. Bottom line is the vacuum is sexy, but don't plan on actually using it. Hoover is off the list forever!

"Replaced a Kenmore Progressive Vacuum" 2009-07-12
By jon doe (east coast usa)
I purchased this based on others reviews here.

It was to replace an older Kenmore Progressive vacuum.

Amazon shipping was very fast and the box arrived OK.

The vacuum was easy to put together-no tools needed.

The suction is great, the floor brush is huge and has a swivel head that makes it easy to get into tight spaces.

The power nozzle works well but does not have any height adjustment.

The dusting brush looks strange but works well.

I had no problem with the hose kinking or folding over on itself as others posted.

The vacuum seems to follow you well and the 360 degree hose swivel works nice. It will not pull over the cord unless you pull up on the front of it as others have posted.

Overall it seems well made. The variable power is nice and better than a suction control slide on the handle. The power switch on the canister itself will take some getting used to.

I am very happy with the quality and function for the price.I recommend it as a guy who does not like to vacuum.

Our house is single story, mostly laminate flooring, tile entryway, a few throw rugs and 1 bedroom has wall to wall carpet.

 "Hoover windtunnel anniversary edition" 2009-07-09
By Sandra L. Turja (lake erie, usa)
I purchased the hoover anniversary edition wondering if I paid a lot of money for another piece of junk. I am plesantly surprised at how well I like this vacuum. The cleaning power is fabulous. I have 4 rescue cats and they shed a lot. This vacuum sucks up everything and there is no odor with the allergen bags. It is easy to use and I am generally happy with it. The bags are the easiest to change of any I have ever had. The only cons are that it is a little awkward getting around corners with the small wheels and the on/off control is on the body of the vacuum instead of the handle. Overall I think it is a great and would purchase again. Sam T.
