"No Suction - Horrible Product" 2009-09-05
By John Ferrero (Pennsburg, PA)
Vacuum works great as a hand held tool. But the second you want to use it as a hand-held it loses suction. There are no obstructions, everything is clear, it's a mystery. Everything said about the messy filters is true. Please please please, do not buy this piece of junk. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HOOVER!

 "Don't buy these" 2009-08-05
By Christine J. Myers (Aiken, SC)
I owned this vacuum for 1 year before finally putting it in the garbage and buying a Dyson. The belts are constantly breaking or falling off. The on-off switch wouldn't work and I had to resort to unplugging it to stop operation. It would pull on rugs causing the brushes to stop turning and sometimes causing it to start smoking. the dirt container would need to be cleaned after only one fourth filled and the filters were always coated with dirt. The replacements are costly and weren't easy to clean.

"Worked Great for 6 Months, Then Loses A Lot of Performance" 2009-07-08
By J. Bechtold (Colfax California)
I bought this vacuum about 12 months ago. When I first purchased the Hoover WindTunnel I was very impressed with it. In the beginning it had plenty of suction and I was astonished at what it was removing from the carpet. However, after about 6 months the honeymoon ended.

I regularly clean out the canister and filter and have even tried cleaning it multiple times during a vacuum session. But unfortunately it has failed to help and the vaccum cleaner struggles to pick up basic light particles of dirt on the carpet and animal hair (not excessive amounts of it). When the unit is in the upright position, the hose attachment works great. But when the unit is lowered to clean the carpet, it struggles to even suck up a piece of thread. I have dissembled the unit multiple times looking for an obstruction that was never found.

The red light (embedded dirt finder) that once flicked on and off for a few months now never turns green, and it hasn't for about 2 months. My carpets are getting dirtier and dirtier and the vacuum is doing less and less. When I put my hand down by the roller brush I could feel no suction air draw at all.

I have encountered a number of similar reviews of this vacuum cleaner on other websites that say similar things as I have experienced with it. So its not just a defective unit. I imagine that most of these people leaving these 5 star reviews are doing so after using the vacuum just a few times. I would like to see their reviews of it after one year of use.

I don't normally leave a lot of product reviews, but I'd like to hopefully help save some people some anguish by encourging you to not buy this vacuum cleaner. I contacted Hoover about the issues with it and they basically said 'Sorry, its out of warranty'.

"What a waste of money!" 2009-03-05

I've had this cleaner for about 4 years now, and it is AWFUL-except that when the suction is working properly, it does a good job. It uses belts like crazy; no wonder Hoover offers lifetime replacement belts. I have a golden retriever, so there's a lot of pet hair around when I vacuum. This cleaner picks up most of it, but eventually spits out balls of compacted dog hair that I have to pick up myself. (I'm saving up all that stuff to knit myslef a new dog!)I've had no problem getting the "canister" off to empty it, nor have I had any problem replacing it. But the filter and screen don't come clean with just a "banging" on the side of the dumpster. As others have mentioned, once that canister is about half full-which, in my home, happens each time I vacuum just the living room and dining room- it must be emptied or the cleaner won't pick anything up. And the little hand tool for doing stairs...what a joke! If you put the slightest bit of pressure on it, the little wheel stops turning. It's useless. I don't even try any more. If you are looking for a reasonably-priced cleaner, I'm sure there are better choices.
